Blueblood Hakkoda book out!
Posted by Neil Hartmann on July 10, 2008
The Blueblood team and I took a trip to Aomori’s Hakkoda in January of this year. We make two photo shoots a year for the brand, one in January and the other in April. Usually we shoot in Hokkaido, but for a change of pace we took the ferry to Aomori. I had been to Hakkoda before about 7 years ago for the Avalanche camp that burton put on featuring Craig Kelly as a guest guide and teacher. Amazing experience and amazing mountain. This trip was amazing as well. One of the biggest storms of the season hit while we were there, it made for very hard shooting conditions, but the powder was something I will not soon forget. So Blueblood decided to make a little booklet about the trip as an early promotion. This booklet is now availible at stores that sell the Blueblood line. It comes with a sticker sheet and a nice plastic bag that has the cover photo printed on it.

The cover is a montage of course. The trees are from one of the courses at Hakkoda. Incedible amount of snow on the branches, I think I took a thousand pictures as I love the trees like that.

Yamauchi with a very nice heel side turn.

the snow monsters and look at the snow on the cars! That is from just a half day of snow!

Mino melon air with the gondola in the background. The team drops in.

It was not quite as dark as it looks, I underexposed the background to get the night feeling. The location was right in front of the gondola station by the parking lot. There was a little steep section with snow, perfect to set up the flashes and shoot!

This shot was from the first day at Hakkoda. I was shooting with FILM that day as the weather was pretty good. Very stoked on this shot, just a simple sillouette, with the snow monsters. The wind storm that arrived the next day blew off a lot of the snow so I am glad I got these shots when I could.

Hayato on the shark board going big. This is actually from a road side section that our local guide Ryoma took us to. Great spot right on the side of the road.

Loving it!

Thats it! Hope you enjoyed it, see if you can find a copy at your local snowboard shop. Thanks again to Ryoma and all the nice people we met in Hakkoda great spot!!! You can click on each image if you want a large view.
