Thank God for Arnie and his easy to understand reports concerning the continuing disaster at Fukushima Daiichi here in Japan.
The Japanese news continues to downplay the whole situation and put a nice spin on things. The announcement of the complete meltdown in reactor #1 this week actually sounded pretty mellow the way they reported it on NHK. The Japanese language has an amazing way of taking the edge off of ridiculously bad news. The fact that Arnie and many others were claiming full melt down literally days after 3/11 was certainly not included in the reports on TV over here this week.
Anyway take a look at his latest video report. The title alone is depressing. “One Step Forward, Four Steps Back”
Gundersen says Fukushima’s gaseous and liquid releases continue unabated. With a meltdown at Unit 1, Unit 4 leaning and facing possible collapse, several units contaminating ground water, and area school children outside the exclusion zone receiving adult occupational radiation doses, the situation continues to worsen. TEPCO needs a cohesive plan and international support to protect against world-wide contamination.
