I added a bunch of new pictures to my Instacanv.as gallery and found out that they have made some big changes there. First the shipping rates have come down again, now $9 flat rate anywhere in the world! Wow that is certainly within reach now for those of us outside the USA! They also have some new products besides the simple canvas prints that were offered until now. Framed photos and a cool new type called the Prism! Looks pretty cool. Be the first one to order one!
New store location for The North Face in Fukuoka opens today. Great new store on the same street as Beams, ABC Mart, Patagonia etc., in the Tenjin area. 2F design with all the core North Face gear. Check it out when you have a chance and I am sure I will be back soon with some related event.
Thanks to everyone who came out for the “This Is My Winter” showing at TNF Harajuku. It was a great crowd and it was fun to meet and talk with a lot of snow loving people. The reaction to the movie was great, it is certainly impressive to watch it on a big screen. We will be doing only two more showings, at Appi on the 28th and in Niseko on the 18th of February. Hope to see you there! If you can’t make it please check in out on your computer screen!

The famous spots like Niseko and Nagano are covered, but we also try to find new and unknown backcountry locations. This season we found some great spots in Niigata while cat boarding, Asahidake and even some great spring riding in Niseko’s Annupuri area.
The moment many have been waiting and asking for is finally here! Car Danchi NO.5 is now available for sale on-line in the USA! If you live in North America and want to get a copy of my latest film effort, please follow the link below and throw one in your shopping cart!
I have been making Car Danchi movies for the last 7 years and until now they have never been on sale in the USA. It was always too difficult to find a distributor and shipping directly from Japan was way too expensive. Thanks to my younger brother taking on the challenge to take and ship orders we can now make a limited number available, so get one quick!

A few photos from my day and a half in Tateyama. These photos were shot with my new D7000 and processed with Aperture. All the earlier blog posts I made below were directly from my iPhone.
No it is not graffiti, just helping people find their way to the top when the fog gets thick.
Still a lot of snow up there, but the locals told us less than there was at the same time last year.
There were at least 6 or 7 snow crossings on the path up to Oyama. Felt great to be back on snow again. I did a little shoe boarding on the way down, nice to get that sliding feeling, even if only for a moment.
Small shrines are all over the mountain, some are probably hundreds of years old.
Local Toyama elementary school kids hiking down from the peak. Had to wait close to ten minutes in some spots for the traffic jam to pass! Great to see these kids hiking this kind of big mountain.
Shrine at the peak.
Decided to start my pin badge collection.
Feeling very purified now! Ready to get back home and start editing the new Car Danchi 5.
Lets take a look at the new TNF store in Shizuoka. Was really impressed with Shizuoka and the people there. The city has a countryside feel and the buildings are not the newest, but the streets and properties are clean. Yards are kept up and even old buildings seem to be maintained with some care and loving. I am so used to Hokkaido, which looks like a ghost town junkyard. Nice to see people have some pride in their community.
The crowd who gathered for the reception was also very nice. Fashionable, young, friendly and stoked to see the new shop. They seemed fascinated to watch Kuniyuki performing live. He did a 30 minute performance where he creates a song live starting with stuff that he found in the store. A gourd, a cup etc., He samples the sounds and creates an original song out of that. Amazing to watch. If you really want to see what it sounds like you can watch the live performance on my Ustream channel. I broadcast part of the performance live from my iPhone. I like the way you can broadcast live now with smart phones, and I think I am going to start doing that a lot more, so stay tuned.
I will have some shots from the reception and live performance up tomorrow, but for now enjoy some shots of the shop. The second floor is a cafe and book store called 223 Cafe.
Good luck to the staff and crew. I hope to visit the store again soon!
