Sweet Grass new movie!

The new Sweet Grass movie premiered in Tokyo today, I couldn’t make it there but I just checked out the teaser on Vimeo.com If you like beautiful cinematography, epic slow motion shots and cool acoustic music you have got to check out Sweet Grass and their new movie “Solitaire” Looks wicked! The makers of “Signatures” by the way.

SOLITAIRE: A Backcountry Skiing, Snowboarding, and Telemark Film from Sweetgrass Productions

In the high desert of South America, winter takes hold, devouring bleached bones and abandoned shacks. Into these most inhospitable of lands, a handful of drifters emerge from the whiteout, ready to cast their lot on forsaken peaks both merciless and magnificent. Venturing beyond the frontiers of most mountain films, Solitaire is backcountry skiing forged in the tradition of Western cinema. Born in the spires of Argentina’s legendary Las Lenas, a lonely two-year journey begins through an abandoned world, wandering the length of a continent from Peru’s Cordillera Blanca to Chilean Patagonia.
Lost in the winds of snowbound badlands and the blizzards of primordial forests; seen from a horse’s saddle and a paraglider’s wings; ridden on ski and board and Telemark…
Solitaire fuses western-inspired tales of backcountry gambles into landscapes never before visited on film.

Shot on location in: Las Lenas, Argentina; Portillo, Chile;
Nevados de Chillan, Chile; Patagonia, Chile; Bariloche, Argentina; Caviahue, Argentina; Huaraz, Peru; Iquitos, Peru; Uyuni, Bolivia; and Sajama, Bolivia.

Internet film making

Two very interesting movie projects that I never even knew about until today.  All footage source through YouTube and Vimeo etc.,  both had people filming around the globe on a single day.  The first one already released in theaters, produced by Ridley Scott, the second one still in the editing stage, but I like the teaser for that one better.  Look forward to more of these types of projects.  Good stuff.

ONE DAY ON EARTH creates a picture of humanity by recording a 24-hour period throughout every country in the world. We explore a greater diversity of perspectives than ever seen before on-screen. We follow characters and events that evolve throughout the day, interspersed with expansive global montages that explore the progression of life from birth, to death, to birth again. In the end, despite unprecedented challenges and tragedies throughout the world, we are reminded that every day we are alive there is hope and a choice to see a better future together.

Not the song I am using in the video, but this is a classic remix check it out.

Here is a track that you will hear in the movie. Sapporo local artist Tokky

I am using a different track but this is a good one too.

Burton movie preview drops!

The new Burton movie “Stand Sideways” teaser has dropped on YouTube. Check it out, a classic piece showcasing the best of today next generation snowboarding talent.

Not only is the riding amazing, but I am so stoked on the new talents like Jack Mitrani and Dani who are willing to go for it off the snow as much as they do on the snow. These guys are true all around talents with comedy skills, movie making skill, and music making skill, you name it they do it.

The music selection for the teaser is also a classic.

The only thing that I get bummed on when watching these high end snowboard movie teasers is the “we have to work so hard for this” slam scenes. Watching that stuff does not make me want to go snowboarding, but then again I am not 16 years old and amped up on Red Bull, so what do I know.

Dig it!

Top level from TGR

I have been watching TGR movies for over ten years now and I have always been a fan. They certainly know how to raise the bar! As always TGR puts together a great teaser for the new film “One For the Road” The level of the footage being shot for ski and snowboard movies these days is absolutely incredible! Add to that athletes going for it like never before and it makes for a pretty insane combination. This one certainly requires a few repeated viewings.

Extra clip to check out.
