On Cafe news and blog

It has been crazy busy with the On Cafe work schedule and more. We finally got wireless Internet installed here at the cafe and the blog is starting to take shape. I will be posting some info about the cafe here on my blog, but if you want daily info about the cafe, please bookmark the ON CAFE blog here.

The food menu is starting to take shape.  We are showing off the latest addition “Hot springs boiled egg salad”  Delicious!  Takamasa is holding the “California Style Fish Taco’s”.  Check our schedule as to when we are open then come on in and give them a try.

Honeyee mag shooting

Wrapped up the Burton shooting and drove 20 minutes to Moiwa to join HF and crew.  We did two runs in some of the deepest snow I have ever experienced.  Incredible absolutely incredible.   The biggest cold front to hit Japan in the last 50 year!  The storm has been wreaking havoc across Japan, and it finally hit Hokkaido last night.  It was snowing at least 10 cm an hour before I went to sleep last night.

Free Beer!

“On Cafe” is having an opening party on January the 10th!  We are combining that with the after party for the Jozankei winter  festival that is happening this weekend called “Snow Fantasy”.  Typically funky naming for an event that is far from “Fantasy”, but that is besides the point.  The point is that we are giving away free beer on the 10th at “On Cafe” in Jozankei from 6pm until the beer is gone.  Check the flyer below for more info.

Here is a close up of the map.  We are located right across the street from the Furukawa Hotel on the 2nd floor.

Here is  our monthly schedule for January.

On Cafe goes on line!

On Cafe is now Jozankei’s official internet cafe!

NTT showed up today and installed the Hikari fiber line.  It then took me over four hours and two phone calls to the support center to finally get the damn internet connected and working!  How many hours of my life have been wasted trying to get an internet connection working…..  I am sure many people can relate.  Not being able to read Japanese only makes it worse.

Anyway we are now on line so I think I will be able to get back into my rythm of making regular blog updates.  If you need interest free internet access in Jozankei then please stop by, have a coffee and surf the web, do your email whatever you want to do.

We are located across the street from Furukawa hotel on the second floor.

Here is what the cafe looks like right now.

view from the counter. Darts, games, books, Family com, Super Family computer etc., All waiting for you.

Oh yeah Carlsberg is on tap, Guiness surger cans, Corona, and for the drivers out there, Kirin Free.

The pint glass pictured below is 800yen.  Happy hour 5pm to 8pm all beer one hundred yen off!  700yen pint is a deal!

Biggest storm ever

2010 has brought the single largest snowfall I have ever experienced since moving to Jozankei. At least a meter of snow accumulated with the first 24 hours of 2010! It was amazing to watch the snow pile up faster than I could shovel it away! I spent the entire day on the first digging out our windows around the house along with digging out the snow mobiles. Yesterday spent the morning on my front end loader moving snow around. Then again today all morning trying to clear more snow from the windows.

This was taken on the 31st, there is already a good bit of snow, but you can still see my snowmobile?

The next morning everthing buried.  By the end of the day it had snowed at least this much again.  I spent the entire day outside digging out the sled, then all the windows around the house.

This is a single days snow fall on top of my oil tank.

snow creaping up the windows.
